Horse races in Sanlúcar

The races begin, the horses appear ridden by their jockeys and the audience starts to move taking positions, either in the tents and boxes, or on foot at the beach.

The afternoon of August 31, 1845, the first race “in the English style” is celebrated. Twenty days later, the “Horse Racing Society of Sanlúcar de Barrameda” is born. It is the second oldest regulated in the country.
Enjoy and contemplate in a unique setting, the beauty of these exciting summer holiday days at the mouth of the Guadalquivir beach.

Feria de la Manzanilla

It is celebrated at the end of May but its date depends on the Romería del Rocío. It is located by the sea, which is appreciated during those dates for the freshness of its tides. It has booths, each with its gastronomic specialties and its peculiar decoration. In them, Manzanilla is drunk and mainly Sevillanas are danced.
Women dress in the cheerful and colorful flamenco outfit, whose evolution has run parallel to the rest of the designs that are updated in each period. Similarly, during the celebration of the La Manzanilla Fair, parallel bullfighting activities take place.

The Holy Week

Declared in 2002 as a festival of “National Tourist Interest of Andalusia”. The brotherhoods walk between the Lower Neighborhood, in the lower part of the city, and the Upper Neighborhood, in the upper part. They walk accompanied by bugles and drum beats on steep slopes, through narrow streets and beautiful squares creating a winding path full of emotion, magic and faith that give you “goosebumps”. The squares are filled with exciting encounters between the sacred images and the faithful, creating an atmosphere of recollection and communion.

El Rocío

Let me guide you towards one of the most universal pilgrimages, that of El Rocío, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. An experience that transcends the earthly to touch the deepest part of the soul. A pilgrimage with such intense religious essence that every step taken is imbued with devotion and love for the Virgin. A true festival of emotions among olive trees, junipers, mastic trees and brambles to the sound of sevillanas and guitars, where faith merges with joy and camaraderie, creating a special connection among all those present.

Challenge Doñana

Do you want to break a sweat? Come with me to this physical and mental endurance race, unique in its kind, that combines three sports disciplines. A “live” course, influenced by the tides and currents of the Guadalquivir river, adding an element of unpredictability and excitement to the competition, making each edition unique.

The order and distances of the disciplines are exclusive to this test: 97 km of cycling, 1.4 km of swimming, and finally, a 21 km run on the sand of Doñana National Park beach. Push your limits, connect with nature, and let yourself be carried away by the excitement of crossing the finish line in this exceptional endurance race.

World Motorcycle Championship

The Grand Prix of Spain Motorcycle takes place at the Jerez Ángel Nieto Circuit, about 20 km from Sanlúcar. During the first two days, you can see both the free practices and the qualifying rounds of the different categories.

Enthusiastic people from all over flood the streets of Jerez and the surrounding municipalities with camaraderie and a good atmosphere to celebrate their passion and love for motorcycles, experience the excitement of the Motorcycle World Championship, and cheer on their favorite riders.
